Over the December holidays it's always difficult to find restaurants that are still trading in Johannesburg, which is a bit of a bummer when you are not leaving the city.
My friends and I were tired of cooking & cleaning, so we opted for lunch in Linden.
Rosto, an Italian Rotisserie with its tag line "we make chicken fly" was inviting.
It was a stinker of a hot day, so an ice cold bottle of Prosecco kicked off proceedings. Our lunch consisted of a green salad, twice fried chips, parmigiana di melanzane and a whole chicken flavoured with peperoncino, aglio and sundried tomato.
Good, fresh food!
Did I mention the double fried chips, these rock and was star of the show.
Lunch soon turned into early afternoon and well, how can you end an Italian meal without tiramisu, right?
The tiramisu was just the right amount of sweet and I pretty much ate most of it.
The décor is cool and inviting, yellow, grey and wood – love the combination.
Service was good too.
Simple food, cooked well is always welcome.
I will be back.
